Had it been a dream?
The kid walked out of the fog. Before him stood three ancient arched gateways. The journey here had been arduous and at times seemed impossible, but he had made it. Now all there was left to do was choose.
The kid studied the middle gate. It had strange inscriptions all along its arch. The kid couldn’t tell if they were warnings or a sign of the wonders beyond. The engravings looked almost alien, but they weren’t. The kid knew the gates were of this world and the symbols used seemed like something he could have created himself (had it been a dream?). They seemed like something he may one day create.
Still, he was unsure of which path to take. The kid closed his eyes, and saw, and pushed the gate open.
And then he awoke.
